JRF organizes projects this one in Sakib near Jerash Jordan
The objective of JFR's project in Sakib is to organize social development for poor communities to create income by planting grapes in their gardens
The villagers are taught how to plant vegetables
The idea is to make the space around their houses green and in the same time productive
This is how the area looks like now
The area is dusty, dry and depressing
The planting day is a big event and the whole village is present
Mr. Michael Schuring instructs the villagers on how to plant
All the children enjoy helping planting
You see that the soil has been made humid yesterday with 30 liters of water now the horizontal part of the primary root is pruned off
Then we plant in the humid soil and the anti-evaportation ground cover is placed
We put app. 10 cm of soil above the ground cover
Then we put the box on top of the ground cover and press it firmly
Then we add 4 liters of water in the center openning and 16 liters in the Groasis waterboxx this is mostly enough for a year
The children study the whole planting process with high interest
Then we break the soil aside of the box to kill competing grass and to lock the capillary water
The vilagers look proud at the first planted grape
We expect that this grape will take care of a better future for these children
The planting result is a fresh good growing grape
